My therapeutic approach

Everyone arrives with their own history, their own experiences and their own learned patterns of behaviour. So understanding always comes first: what is weighing on you? What is happening beneath the surface? And what kind of change would genuinely help?

My work draws on several approaches — above all therapeutic hypnosis and elements of cognitive behavioural therapy.

Making sense of therapeutic hypnosis

Most people have heard of hypnosis, and most people have questions about it. In my practice it is not a loss of control. It is a therapeutic method in which you remain consciously aware of the process throughout.

Can I be hypnotised?

Hypnosis is experienced differently by everyone. To give you a first sense of your own responsiveness, I work with an assessment of individual hypnotic susceptibility.

The assessment is based on the Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility. It offers an initial orientation and helps me prepare the therapeutic work to suit you.

Hypnosis and behavioural therapy

Therapeutic hypnosis and cognitive behavioural therapy complement one another. Hypnosis can open a route to unconscious processes and learned patterns; behavioural therapy helps you place new insights consciously and carry them into everyday life, step by step.

Depending on your situation, therapeutic hypnosis can also run alongside existing psychotherapeutic or medical treatment. This requires close coordination with your treating doctor or therapist.

Understand the pattern. Make room for change.

Cognitive behavioural therapy helps you recognise the thought and behaviour patterns that weigh on you, and develop new ways of handling difficult situations. Among other methods I work with Socratic dialogue — a well-established approach that helps you examine your own thinking and arrive at a different view.
